BPCE launches a crypto-asset investment and custody offering through its subsidiary Hexarq
To meet the growing interest of its customers in crypto-assets, Groupe BPCE has recently extended its investment offering¹ to this asset class, via its dedicated subsidiary Hexarq, accessible within the online banking applications of Banque Populaire and Caisse d’Epargne, which thereby become the first network banks in France to enable their customers to buy, hold and sell crypto-assets.
In a context where crypto-assets are gaining in popularity and legitimacy, Groupe BPCE is providing a response to customers interested in these new investment vehicles through Hexarq’s offering, available on the Banque Populaire and Caisse d’Epargne online banking platforms. This offering allows customers to invest in crypto-assets with complete autonomy. Retail customers of 13 institutions² will gain access during March to a range of crypto-assets such as Bitcoin and Ethereum, under the best security conditions thanks to Hexarq’s membership of a leading banking group. This offering will also be available to Banque Palatine customers from April.
Subscription is simple and entirely digital, allowing an Hexarq account to be opened within minutes and investments to be managed independently. The Hexarq space is accessible directly within the online banking applications, for the smoothest and most instant experience possible. The intuitive interface allows users to track their portfolio’s performance in real time, view market data as well as their transaction history, and carry out their operations with ease. Hexarq also provides educational resources and a dedicated customer service, based in France, to support users in understanding and managing their crypto-assets. The offering will be gradually expanded in the coming months.
Hexarq’s technical platform was developed – and is operated – by BPCE to provide the highest level of security to its users, as reflected in Hexarq’s authorisation as a CASP (Crypto-Asset Service Provider) under the European MiCA (Markets in Crypto-Assets) regulation, granted by the AMF (Autorité des Marchés Financiers) in early February. Hexarq is also supervised by the ACPR (Autorité de Contrôle Prudentiel et de Résolution).
